Saturday was forecast to be the best day of the weekend of 7/8 March, but the intrepid duo arriving in Ogwen Valley found the weather to be less than promising. The guys were hoping for some remnants of winter, but the actual conditions suggested something on rock to be the only option.
Walking into the cwm confirmed this and the decision to head for the Cneifion Arete led to to the climbers descent next to Idwal Slabs. As the pair headed further up, conditions worsened.
Getting blown off their feet a couple of times, the Arete was looking less likely and a change of plan to take in a walk found thick grey flag at the top.
Having taken the rope for a walk, and headed back to the car park, a good brew was found down the road in the Siabod Cafe.
Just as the sun came out.
The afternoon remained windy, so the cafe proved to be the better finish to a grey day out.
